Dear Friend:
Maybe I am not so ordinary.
People who know me usually don’t think so, though I cannot tell you why. It could be my unbelievably bad luck—if I believed in that sort of thing. Or the unnatural talent I have for being chronically accident prone. Maybe it is the way I part my hair or smile.
He once said to me, “You are not ordinary. You know this, of course, that you aren’t normal. You don’t want to be normal. Normal scares you. You like to think outside the box, which is fine—except for most everyone is inside the box and want to put you in it, too.”
I am not sure what this box is, but he is right, I have no intention of being stuck inside of one. Who is to say I am so different, though? What one person may consider normal, the other might consider insanity.
Whatever the case, this is who I am. These are my confessions.
